"I attended A&E a few weeks ..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I attended A&E a few weeks ago with a serious ankle injury and was amazed at the amount of visible admin/management staff, but not enough nursing staff. A&E did not have enough wheelchairs and patients were left (although the dept was not busy) sitting and wandering what was going on. The nurse that attented to me however was excellent and clearly under pressure, overworked and without adequate back up. A disgraceful way to run a hospital, let alone a brand new one.I spent a year in hospital in 1981 and things were infanately better.

What could be improved

Lose the excess amount of admin/management staff. Stop treating patients like customers we are patients! Recruit medical staff and support staff (porters etc) that have an interest in treating patients. Ban all staff from having personal mobile phones when on duty. They are there to attend to patients and not sit around texting! Bring back proper matrons.

Stop wasting money!
