"A&E"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

I unfortunately had to attend the A&E department on Saturday 12th October 2013, the staff were nice but the waiting rooms floor, doors and other surfaces including some of the seats were filthy and it did not get any better in the triage room dirty floor walls, split fabric seat and the curtain. As A&E got a bad review earlier in the year what have you done to sort this area out? I could not fault any of the staff, but feel sorry for them as they have to work in this area.

Thank you for your feedback and for acknowledging our hardworking staff. We realise there is work to do in our emergency department and a refurbishment programme is currently underway. This is one of the key priorities within our quality improvement plan for the next 12 months and we are committed to getting it right. We are developing safe plans to deliver improvements without disrupting any of the department’s services so they remain available to our patients throughout the refurbishment. We will be delivering an update on plans to improve the emergency department on Monday 18 November, 3pm in the lecture theatre, Postgraduate Centre, Medway Maritime Hospital. Members of the public are being encouraged to attend. To book a place, please call the membership office on 01634 825292 or email members@medway.nhs.uk Inmaculada Diaz Alonso Clinical Nurse Lead for Emergency Department
