"Fed up with referral for back pain"

About: Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

I am a married father of a handicapped son.

I have had actue various back pain which now affects my walking and balance. All I want is relief if possible and to know my options. At this time I have not been seen, but feel okay answering this.

Beginning of August, I see my GP (who I think a lot of) who thinks I may have spondylosis so says I need a MRI scan at RJ&AH orthopeadic hospital.

TRAQS sent me an appointment to be seen in the middle of October at spinal disorders. Mid way through September this was cancelled, saying sorry we will contact you soon. I was disappointed but accepted.

After my GP put me off work and not hearing I phoned to see when my appointment would be.

1) The spinal disorders phone was never answered. 2) People told me different things, I. e you need to see a consultant first/no you don't. 3) You need to book an appointment for a scan after the consultant. 4) Consultants PA was speaking unkind of my GP's secretary and visa versa.

Today I have a new TRAQS letter to say I am awaiting an MRI scan! Fed up.

Thank you for taking the time to write to TRAQS.

I should explain that TRAQS is responsible only for arranging your initial appointment with the hospital and any subsequent change to this appointment for whatever reason is the responsibility of the hospital administrative staff.

It is unfortunate that having cancelled your initial appointment you have not been given an alternative date as yet.

With regard your final comment, as all feedback is anonymous I am unable to establish why TRAQS would have sent a letter of this nature; however, if you would like to contact TRAQS on 01952 580441 I would be pleased to look into the matter further.
