What I liked

I had good treatment when I attended the hospital. I had my first consultation in an out reach clinic.

What could be improved

The waiting times for follow up appointments was too long. The appointment booking service seemed to be in complete disarray. They need to increase the proportion of follow up appointments. The radiology department seemed to be adding unacceptable delays to the treatment process.

I was seen about 20th October then followed up on 3rd January was booked into the wrong ENT clinic. I took the referral for the CT scan to the radiology department by hand but had to wait 3 or 4 weeks to get an appointment which for the 14th March. I could not attend so was allocated an appointment for the following week. I then had to wait until about 10th June to get my results of the scan.

By this time I had been given the opportunity to get the nasal polypectomy done privately which I did on 19th June and during my recuperation I was notified of my NHS hospital appointment for the procedure which I then declined to save resources.

We are currently doing a lot of work to streamline our appointment processes in line with the 18 week pathway. The 18 week pathway focuses particularly on trying to group appointments so that patients have to make less visits to the hospital and also so that we are using every available clinic appointment to reduce waiting times and improve the service we provide. In line with this it is extremely important and valuable to us that our patients let us know when they cannot make an appointment, which you did. This enables us to pass on appointments to other patients.
