I went to the gp out of hours section of a&e in pain and in need of antibiotics for a dental abscess. I gave my details and described the nature of my problem and waited for an hour to see the gp. He took all my details (again) input the detail of my current medication, and asked me about any allergies etc and then went on to tell me that sorry he wasnt allowed to prescribe antibiotics. Complete waste of my time and theirs, I'm left with an infection that will continue to get worse until I can get to my dentist in the morning and no doubt other patients were waiting unnecessarily while this was going on. I work in the NHS, have done for nearly 30 years, I'm ashamed if it and angry about the way I've been (not)treated.
