Due to a post op infection I had to have my original Hickman Line removed from my chest. To begin my post op chemotherapy I needed to have a second Hickman Line fitted. Thursday 10th October. Charing Cross. 6th Floor Southwing Ward 07:45. Due to my early appointment I was met by the night shift staff coming to the end of a long nightshift. What a lovely team of staff. The Sister and Nurses could not have been more helpful, friendly and above all professional. A credit to the NHS. Thank You. I was shown to my bed and given all the required observational checks prior to the day team arriving. This was at the end of a nightshift! The day shift staff from the Doctor, Sister and Nursing Angels were superb. I cannot thank everyone enough for the fantastic treatment and care I was shown. Thank You. The male nursing assistant was another star player. I was taken down to the vascular surgery unit by a hospital porter. I have been taken to theatre before by this guy and he is so pleasant and professional in what he does. Probably forgotten hospital heroes. Thank You. Waiting in the Vascular surgery unit not something I cherish but once again the whole experience was wonderful thanks to the highly professional and personable team. The pre/post op team of nurses and assistants are all real star. I cannot praise them highly enough. The Operating Team were absolutely first class. From the surgeon to the specialist nurses and assistants. Thank You. You will not find a better team of Nurses anywhere. Ladies and gents you know who you are. approx. 13:00 10th October 2013. Chemotherapy Clinic 12:00 Friday October 18th & Restart Chemotherapy Monday 21st Oct. The wonderful staff all make it much more bearable. Thank You. Update on Chemotherapy next time.
