About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

came to Royal Bolton Hospital with my son who was 24 complaining of chest pains. A&E were very good, he had a chest extra, ecg and blood tests. His blood was raised so they transferred us to the medical assessment ward where we waiting 5 hours before seeing a doctor. The staff kept trying to get doctors but nobody came. When a doctor did turn up they were brilliant - the care was brilliant and a VP scan was booked for the Tuesday afterwards. The next day they had a vacancy for the VP scan and rang him and he attended and needed no further treatment. Its best to get things checked out by the professionals but the 5 hours wait was not acceptable. It was a bit like buses - 1 does not come along for ages and then 2 appear !!!!

What could be improved

The above

We're pleased that you felt that your son received such good care and hope he is recovering well. We can understand your anxiety and frustration about the delay on the medical assessment ward, although we would point out that this may have been because the medical staff were dealing with an emergency.
