About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

Anything else?

I was horrified driving past the Hospital on Thursday to see nursing staff outside the front gate on the main road huddled over their cigarettes. Not good

Thank you for your posting in respect of the staff smoking on the main road outside the hospital.

The Trust is actively supporting the current Public Health England STOPTOBER campaign to encourage our staff and patients to stop smoking. This includes Market place stalls manned by the Smoking Cessation Team in each canteen; increased security presence at key areas, including the hospital entrances, and additionally Wigan Council are stepping up their litter inforcement.

I hope that this information is helpful in reassuring you that the Trust are actively involved and encouraging our staff and patients to consider stopping smoking.
