"My care at Nottingham University Hospitals - SSU at City & MR Hanh's team"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I underwent orthopaedic surgery in mid August at City hospital, my care was on SSU, my consultant Mr David Hahn, aneathetist Dr Mike Nathenson.

As a senior member of staff working in the NHS, you are mindful how difficult it is for some junior staff to look after you.

I can honestly say that I felt very well cared for, fully informed, my care timely and organised by all. I know that this was not just because of 'me' but because this is how they work. The porter who took me to theatre was just a lovely reassuring person. The care and attention to detail provided by the nurse practitioner & student nurse in recovery was excellent and the response to my need for pain relief timely.

There was not one person who did not give me good, professional, compassionate care. I know what happens so I was probably more worried about everything than the average patient, I did not need to be, the nurse and HCA who cared for me post-op were just 'fab'.

I feel very proud to be part of the NHS as an employee but also that as a patient the service I received was excellent. A big thank you as it was a good example of team work to give a patient a good experience
