"Accident and Emergency Service"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

My wife collapsed in the street - fainted might be a better description - and damaged her back in the fall. According to onlookers, she also hit her head on the road and was unconscious for a short time. The emergency response vehicle arrived after 15 minutes but the ambulance took much longer but this comment refers to the treatment she received at the DRI. The triage process was completed in minutes and she was admitted to the section quickly. Despite the business of the section she was attended to quickly and diagnosis and treatment began immediately. There were periods of waiting between sessions with various staff members but the care, consideration and thoroughness of her treatment from the emergency response nurse, the ambulance crew and the accident and emergency staff was exemplary. Yes, we will recommend the service to all we meet. One other comment. Any delays there were could be explained by the amount of administration that staff have to do. We realize that malicious complaints by a litigious public make this necessary but I have yet to hear the NHS make this aspect clear to us all.
