"Unprofessional and uncaring"
About: Whipps Cross University Hospital Whipps Cross University Hospital E11 1NR
I gave birth in Whipps Cross in January 2013, during a process where I had to be induced. I was appauled by the low standard of cleanliness in the ward, and how some nurses thought it was ok to touch their hair and face while wearing gloves and then touch the patients again. The nurses put someone else name on the print out coming of my baby's heart, and when I pointed it out, no apologies or explanation were given, and it was simply changed. The nurse from a previous shift forgot to update my notes with the medication (name and amount) she gave me, and this created an issue when I had to be assessed for further medication. The midwifes would often say that they will be back for further check ups but then disappear and forget. I had lost my waters for almost 36h before being transferred to the delivery ward. I was told I needed to pack my bags and get ready, and I waited 2 h before someone came back saying 'sorry' it will have to happen later but they didn't know when. It wasn't until much much later that I was finally transferred to the delivery room. After my emergency cesarienne delivery, I decided to have a private room. Unfortunately the midwifes would not even bother knocking at the door and would just barge into my room. The room wasn't cleaned and I had to request it. I was so disappointed that I was in such a dirty, uncaring and unprofessional environment. I do not wish it on anyone to take the chance to have their baby delivered in Whipps Cross.
