"Endoscopy (outpatients)"

About: Frenchay Hospital

Anything else?

I visited endoscopy as an outpatient. I left feeling embaressed and humiliated after my consultant felt it acceptable to stand around laughing and talking to a colleague about another patient whilst i led undignified during a procedure. Spent 5 hours waiting around during a simple visit.

Dear Anonymous – thank you for your views on Gastrointestinal and Liver services at Frenchay Hospital. I am very sorry that you had such a poor experience. All staff are aware of the need to respect patient confidentiality, and so it was very concerning to read your feedback. Your views have been passed on to the managers in the department concerned so that staff can be reminded of the need to act in a professional way at all times. I am also sorry that you also had such a delay in being seen, and I hope that staff will have communicated the reasons for any delay and kept patients fully informed of the position. It is difficult to comment further without more details about the date when you visited the department. Kind regards – Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team
