I have to visit hull to have treatment for arthritis in the spine. It is a six hour round trip involving six buses and can only say that I have yet to have a consultation that lasted longer than ten minutes the last being five minutes. I was told I would get an appointment for treatment within four to six weeks but here I am still waiting nearly twelve weeks and countless amounts of ringing them on the phone later. I am in constant pain with my back and have only ever had one lot of treatment which was eight months ago. Why I go here when I could go to Scunthorpe general hospital I don't know. I was told the orthapedics department was the best in the area but I don't feel that this is the case. I have never had to wait so long for treatment at Scunthorpe and feel that castle hill are just not up to the job. I would not recommend that anyone attend this department if they had a choice, I as usual never got a say in the matter I just had a letter telling me that was where the appointment was. Oh no hang on originally it was in Beverley which would have meant an overnight stay! Why cant hospitals work together and realise that not everybody has transport to get to these places and need to be seen at their local hospitals especially when they take so long to receive treatment. I have to take two days off at a time to go for treatment (When i actually receive it!) meaning shuffling shifts round at work. The length of wait I am having to endure is simply not on, you wouldn't leave a pet in this much pain so why should I have to suffer just because the consultant forgot to put me on the list
