A friend has had his scheduled operation for Colon cancer cancelled for the second time today (on the supposed day of surgery) due to lack of an HDU bed. Five surgeons were due to perform this whole-day surgery. Five Doctors had a day of their vital work wasted. The emotional distress this is causing his family and friends is disgusting. The financial ramifications for the Trust are mind-boggling. Not impressed.

Unfortunately there has been a significant rise in demand for ITU and HDU beds and we are working hard to solve this problem. We are aware of your friend's case and a new date has been set for their surgery. Thank you again for your feedback.
