What I liked
QMC - A&E (Wednesday, 8.30am)
The quality of the medical staff was second to none. The team worked well together and were knowledgeable, considerate and kind.
The treatment was as prompt as it could have been.
The areas where medical treatment was carried out was clean - with staff paying a special attention to cleaning and hand washing (My doctor washed his hands before and after my treatment - very reassuring).
What could be improved
Though the waiting areas and toilets were clean, they were general in a shabby condition.
The non-medical staff (ie. receptionist) were very unhelpful and did not seem to care about the patients – however this is understandable, if not desired, when considering the abuse they receive)
Despite the staff obviously being busy - the department was run INCREDIBLE inefficiently. At every stage of my treatment, I was moved from a bay to the waiting room then back to a different bay - all the equipment then had to found and the medical staff then locate me.
I can't help feeling that better management and processes would save money, save time, be better for the patient (and family), and most importantly make life easier for the staff who work so hard.
