"Great hospital bulit on skilled caring nurses and..."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

Spent two days at this hodpital the nursing staff made it feel like home. I was diagnosed with a ulcer. The keat's ward staff were emotionally attentive and showed absolute professionalism faced with daunting circumstances. I noted the long hours they worked dealing with very difficult cases and yet their natural friendly professionalism was unstinting. I would recommend managers increase support for nurses at Medway before the moral and dynamism of this wonderful team of caring people is eroded. In addition the food was good. thank you Medway john mcdonagh

Response from Suzanne Brooker, Head of Patient Experience, Medway NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for your feedback and personal reflection following your stay on Keats Ward.

I was very encouraged to read that you had witnessed first hand, how very hard all the staff worked to ensure patients received good care and treatment and the difficult situations they are sometimes faced with.

Our staff are ambassadors of the Trust and maintain proffesionalism and pride in all that they do.

A recent Nursing and Midwifery review has hilighted that investment is required which will see staffing levels in some areas increased.

Thank you for recognising the hard work undertaken by all the staff and of course the good food.

Regards

Suzanne Brooker

Response from Medway Maritime Hospital

Dear John Thank you for your kind words expressing your recent stay at Medway Maritime Hospital. We are really pleased to hear you found Keats Ward staff emotionally attentive and professional. Equally, we do take on board your comments around how hard staff work and the long hours some staff work. We have great staff teams and recognise we need to do as much as we can to support them and improve their working lives. We have been working harder to do this and to ensure areas across the hospital have the staff resource they need to meet the needs of our patients. Keats Ward staff will be delighted to hear your comments. On behalf of the team, we hope you are recovering well and thank you once again for taking the time to write. Medway Maritime Hospital Team
