On several occasions I've visited the ECC department (A&E) Been twice this year; 1) For having urine/kidney problems (Cystitis). 2) Piece of metal stuck in my finger. Last year I was in A&E too for having a contact lens stuck in my eye. Was seen very quick last year possibly and was satisfied with the overall service. The Doctor was very helpful, he had to put some solution into my eye with a 10ml syringe and gave me a prescription for some eye-drops. I was in and out within 20 minutes which was good. Wasn't too pleased going to A&E this year when having urinary/kidney problems as was sent from GP Out Of Hours to A&E then back again, was waiting ages for x-ray when I was the only one waiting around and then told by the Doctor I had kidney stones then another Doctor said it was cystitis! I was in a lot of pain when going to the toilet passing urine and very bad back pain, they gave me no pain relief. Overall, it was cystitis and they gave me a prescription for some strong medicine. When in an A&E treatment room the overall hygiene was poor, tissue paper all over, bottles, used gloves on the side and the floor was so dirty. The care I have received in A&E was good though so I'd give that four stars but the hygiene was so bad, I'd give that 2 stars. All the staff were friendly and nice but have one more thing I'd like to point out. When going to the A&E reception and asked for date of birth, name etc the receptionist was very loud asking and I thought this wasn't private enough, could hear everything of people's private details. Thanks.
