I rang the 111 service the other day for my 8 year old son. It took me a while on the internet to figure out that ours was an area for this service rather than the old NHS Direct. My son had come home from school with a deep wound in his leg which I only discovered in the evening at bedtime. I was worried about possible infection or whether stitches might be needed.
The woman I spoke to was very helpful seemed to ask the right questions and was patient. It was not easy trying to examine the wound and give the right information. She consulted with a colleague and was also good at explaining about the service and the reasons for the advice. She did seem to get a bit confused at the end advising what service to go to based on my postcode, this bit was not necessary I knew where my local Childrens A&E was. Overall a good experience.
