Planned operation of total ab hysterectomy and ovaries removed .nurses and hca exceptional in patient care and dignity.the surgeon fantastic, the aftercare in recovery room was beyond duty.i had complications and the recovery nurse was my angel. She held my hand for 4 hours as I was in pain and suffer from PTSD and anxiety. She would not go for a break until I was stable. She made such a difference to my recovery .the ward staff on acute surgery( complications with bowel) could not do enough for me.polote, caring and efficient. The cleanliness was high standard , very thorough.the whole team worked exceptionally well together even with difficult patients treating the girls like maids! My one criticism was the manner in which a doctor spoke to me from the consultants team and the anaesthetist. Though experts in their biomedical field, they forget that I am the expert on my body and am fully informed on what was wrong with me.i had cysts that had blocked my bowel and fused my uterus and when I asked the doctor about the cyst and bowel , he dismissed my question- basically because he hadn't read my file. Walked up to my bed , and just said yep, get up, walk around and you can go home tomorrow. Whereas my nurse advised him that I was still on oxygen and my haemoglobin levels were too low as was my blood pressure for me to walk around that day.The consultant had to barter with the anaesthetist on a start time for my op as he had a dept meeting. She had to do this over my head , in front of me,whilst I was in pre op admission. As an informed intelligent person I was angered by the offhand professionals who fortunately were in the minority but they forget they are not the experts on other people's lives, feelings and experiences and the patient should be at the forefront of the care plan, not their opinion, based on 30 seconds glance at my file.
