"On two occasions now my operation ..."

About: Watford General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

On two occasions now my operation has been cancelled because of bed space being unavailable.

I have spoken with a couple of staff at the hospital who have told me, one who was in tears, that because of closeurs at St. Albans and Hemel hospitals they are being deluged with patients, bringing with it huge problems.

This, in turn, is leading to profoundly low levels of staff moral and obviously leaving patients, like myself, needing an operation, upset and feeling angry towards the, clearly, dysfunctional state of affairs at the hospital.

It also leaves me cynical and mistrusting towrds the entire system of 'care' within Watford general on many levels!!

That the staff are so pushed and clearly stressed means mistakes can be made.

This leads to all kinds of issues being raised least of all hygene.

Please get the heads of departments together, bring them down from the ivory towers, to take responsibility for the shocking state of Watford general before something really serious happens. I do not want to be rushed into A&E as an emergency because my operation was cancelled.................. once too often!!!!!
