At NHS Sheffield CCG we are developing a Strategy for respiratory care which will define the services we commission in Sheffield up to 2019. We are very keen to hear from patients about their experience of respiratory services in Sheffield in the last two years.

The main aims of our work will focus on providing the right services for respiratory patients that:

  • Support them and their carers to manage their conditions with confidence and achieve the best quality of life.
  • Help delay, or even prevent, the development of respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma and pneumonia.

Our strategy focuses on three main respiratory conditions:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Asthma
  • Pneumonia

We want to gather patient’s experiences; both positive and what could have been done better. Your input will help us to understand what is working and what could be improved in access to and the outcomes of Sheffield’s respiratory services. We want to hear about experiences of services provided at GP practices, Community Services, Hospital services (outpatients and in hospital), through charities and support groups such as Breathe Easy.

We will be gathering patient feedback in three ways:

  1. Patient Opinion website and phone number.
  2. The CCG’s ‘Involve me’ network
  3. We are running focus sessions with patient groups such as Breathe easy and at Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions

We are working with Patient Opinion which is a not-for-profit social enterprise who help improve dialogue between patient and health service providers and to improve health services. Patient Opinion is a website where the public can publish their experiences of local health services. The website allows health service staff to interact with these patients to help improve care whilst treating all information with the strictest of confidence.

So, if you have COPD or Asthma or have had pneumonia in the last 2 years and have received treatment in Sheffield, we really want to hear from you. All information will be anonymous and your Doctor or Nurse will not be aware that you have shared your opinion.

Your contribution will help to improve services for patients and carers of respiratory conditions in Sheffield, so please get involved and have your say.
