Welcome to Care Opinion! Our theme for this blog as you can see, is the yellow brick road from the famous story of the Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. Just like Dorothy, we are on a journey, but not to find a way home, but to find a new member of our team. So, whether you're already familiar with our organisation or just stepping onto the yellow brick road for the first time, this blog will help you understand the world of Care Opinion.

But what is Care Opinion?

We are a non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Sheffield and Stirling run by a small and committed team of people. Since 2005, we have been sharing people’s experiences of health and care services online in a safe and simple way that leads to learning and change. Our mission is to provide an online platform that allows people to share honest feedback easily and without fear - stories directed to wherever they can help make a difference. We want everyone to see how these services are listening and changing in response. Our values: Innovation, Transparency, Inclusivity, Positivity, and Humanity shape everything we do. They motivate and guide us, connecting us with the people we meet along the way. (Just like Dorothy meeting people throughout her journey in the Land of Oz).

In Scotland, we work with all the territorial and special health boards as well as 13 Health and Social Care Partnerships, other third sector organisations, academia and educational institutes. We have supported more than 700 thousand people to share their experience of health and care services.

What it is like working for us?

What truly makes us special is our dedicated team, who are the vibrant heartbeat of our organisation. It's not just a workplace; think of it is as a lively community where ideas don't just take root; they flourish. Here, every team member is empowered to make a real impact, weaving their unique thread into the fabric of our shared story.

We value a diversity of voices; it's the powerful force breathing life into our perspectives and sparking the flame of creativity. At the crossroads of our vibrant culture and commitment to diversity is where our work environment truly comes to life. Beyond the conventional office spaces, we've embraced a dynamic approach to work, offering both office-based and hybrid experiences tailored to the diverse needs of our team, to nurture an environment where people can truly thrive.

As you delve deeper into our organisation, you'll soon realise that much like characters joining Dorothy on the yellow brick road, each role is a crucial member of the team. In Scotland, we're currently on the lookout for an enthusiastic Engagement and Support Officer to step into this unique role - akin to a valued character in the grand narrative of our organisation, just like the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion contributed their distinct qualities to Dorothy's quest. Each team member is an essential piece, bringing their strengths and skills to the collective journey we're on, making our story richer and our impact more profound.

What is the role?

The Engagement and Support Officer role is a key position in Care Opinion giving support to health and care organisations across Scotland. Your journey will involve preparing and delivering engaging training sessions, being the lead contact for subscribing organisations, and carefully moderating stories and responses for accurate and speedy publication. As a crucial member of our dynamic team, you'll handle queries with the finesse of Glinda the Good Witch, contribute to our 'sales and marketing' magic, and proactively seek customer feedback to enhance our services. Your role will also include website administration, maintaining subscriptions, and actively participating in our events and social media presence. Like Dorothy's companions, you'll bring your unique qualities to our to our dynamic team, contributing to a narrative that positively impacts health and care services across the country.
