"Mental Health Ward 2 Forth Valley"

The design of the mental health wards has some fundamental flaws in regards to treating people with mental problems for their lives after their stay. Not only does this affect the patients it affects staff, visitors, family, carers and the unfortunate sufferers of mental Ill health.

Firstly, the emergency buttons need updated as with the skirtings around the wards. This is an essential update that cannot be delayed. To have an updated working hospital that does not look old and abandoned.

Secondly the artwork designs could be updated to reflect the times of the world, to help maintain a connection with the outside whilst within the hospital.

Thirdly, as for the courtyard, there is nothing in the small outdoor spaces to reflect mental wellness beyond a small amount of plants. With the level of people’s problems it would be more adequate to have an art Muriel wall, some colored benches and perhaps even an artist sculpture, so as to encourage healthy cognitive functions.

While this is a hospital institution and not a holistic healing Centre it would do well to recognize that these places do also exist and co exist with them in harmonious balance with the services available.

As it stands, people who receive treatment require extensive healing from the world and services outwith the NHS, and can feel victimized whilst receiving any treatment or care within facilities like this. Whilst this is to be expected somewhat, I would also expect that the NHS shows recognition for people, staff and patients, to this, through its facilities and staff in the services and hospitals it provides.
