"Maternity Labour Suite, theatre, recovery. Heroes."

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neonatal Unit Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Special care baby unit

(as a service user),

I had a planned c section last week with a premature baby that I knew would be going to intensive care when born due to many complications. I was very upset and anxious about it all but the staff at the labour suite were absolutely amazing with me.

They listened to me about all my fears and anxieties and did everything they could to make the experience less frightening and upsetting for me.

From the amazing midwife, the anaesthetist, the other theatre staff (I don't know what their official roles were but they seemed to take on the role of looking after me and my every need), the neonatal staff (especially the amazing doctor who found a way for me to see and hold my baby before he left for NICU) and of course the surgeon (I am so sorry if I left anyone out).

You were all amazing and I truly appreciate everything you did for us that day.

Heroes.
