Had a similar procedure at D&E (Wonford) around 8 years ago and it was abjectly terrifying. Horrible nurse, ridiculously long open ended wait for procedure, recovery surrounded by screaming and wailing post operative patients, not allowed to sit with my partner, and generally treated like a farm animal at best. Consequently I was very very scared this time around. I needn't have worried though. The Consultant and his team were wonderful. I can not speak highly enough of how well I was treated from start to finish. I was seen on time, talked to in clear, easy to understand language about what was going to happen, and the whole procedure was over within around twenty minutes, as the pre-op pamphlet said. I have always avoided male doctors for gynaecological procedures, just because it's such an intimate examination but I was completely at ease with this male doctor/consultant. Both he and the nurses talked me through what I was seeing on screen which was really interesting. I honestly cannot thank the staff enough for performing the laparoscopy so efficiently, effectively and with kindness, but also for putting a very frightened and nervous patient as I was, so at ease. I would definitely recommend treatment in this department.
