My Mum is in her eighties and her TIA Clinic appointment was arranged very quickly. We were told in A&E in the morning that Mum would receive the appointment after being diagnosed with a TIA, and the follow-up TIA Clinic appointment was the next day. I attended with Mum due to her memory issues. I didn't know what to expect from this appointment, and to be honest, I'd been worried that it would all be a bit doom and gloom, but not at all. Dr Whitehead brought us a medication change and huge dollops of positivity.
Dr Whitehead was patient and kind. Mum needs timely memory jogs and can often recall much more information with patience and just a few words to prompt. I'm a recently retired Mental Health nurse who specialised in Care of the Elderly (in a different Health Board), and I was well impressed with Dr Whitehead. The nursing staff and Dr Whitehead made our visit a pleasure, and there were a few happy tears, from Mum and me. I think it was just such a relief to be given a positive outcome delivered with gentle care and compassion.Thank you Dr Whitehead and the nurses at the Care of the Elderly Day Hospital, you're all shining stars of the Scottish NHS.
