I have recently been treated at Tameside General Hospital for varicose veins. I attended outpatient vascular department for assessment and diagnosis prior to being referred for surgery to remove my varicose veins. I had a pre-operative assessment a week before being admitted for surgery. I have experienced nothing but professional and helpful attitude from all the staff at Tameside, including the receptionist staff, nursing and other clinical staff. The nurses and doctors had a friendly attitude and acted with empathy, integrity and care both at the outpatient vascular department, pre-operative assessment department and the day case theatre department. The hospital in general felt very clean including the wards, the operating theatres and the recovery area. I was always well informed and the patient information leaflets I was given about my condition, the nature of the surgical procedure and what to expect post surgery were very informative and written in an easy to understand manner. I got the appointment dates via post and I also got an automated mobile message confirming my appointments few days prior to the date with a number I could call if unable to attend. Tameside General Hospital is not my local hospital but I have been recommended a vascular surgeon who happens to work there so I asked my GP if I could be referred to him. I am very happy that I made the choice to be treated there and was keen to write this review to show my support for the hospital and all its staff. I'm glad that patients can now choose where they would like to be treated and I will be looking to choose Tameside General Hospital again should I ever need to.
