I came to Daisy Hill Hospital's A&E after having issues with my heart. If I could describe my Emergency Department experience in one word it would be dreadful. I have to say it is not the staff that are the problem - they are brilliant. However, it was absolute chaos. The treatment I received was brilliant, however the sheer volume of people was just overwhelming. I had no bed - I had to spend a night on a trolley in the corridor alongside 5/6 other patients. It was incredibly noisy and difficult to sleep.
My experience on the Coronary Care ward has been absolutely brilliant once you get up here. No matter what you want the staff get it for you. In my honest opinion, the staff deserve a huge pay rise. The staff are excellent communicators - they are very caring and explained everything to me well. One nurse in particular came and sat down beside me, comforted me and helped ease my fears after I received my diagnosis. I cannot remember any names but all the staff have been good. They always do what you want and they are always aware of their patients' needs.
The toilets are always kept clean. The food is a bit too bland but I'll still eat it. I like the curry but the rest is bland.
I have no further suggestions for improvement - A&E was the worst part, the rest of the stay was fine.
"Lovely on CCU; absolute chaos in A&E"
