Following GP assessment and discussion with my dads haemotology team , he attended Antrim Emergency Department (ED). The staff in the ED department are exceptional . In spite of the extremely high numbers of attendees, they remain calm and compassionate and showed kindness and patience to both my elderly father and me. Thank you to Sofia and Eric. And thanks to Suzanne, the medic who very quickly identified a possible diagnosis and put him on the right care pathway .
The staff in C4 communicated with me by phone with kindness - knowing the pressures in Antrim Hospital, it really means a lot to have a kind and caring voice on the phone when enquiring about a loved family member. Thank you Gertrude and Michelle. And thank you to Julie for supporting dad as he transferred to Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) and arranging for a medic to discuss his care with me. I didn’t get the junior doctors name but he could give masterclasses in clear and honest communication .
And my dad said he enjoyed the conversation with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NISA) crew on the way to RVH .
"Clear and honest communication"
