"Heart attack diagnosis and journey"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Cardiac Surgery University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology University Hospital Hairmyres / Radiology University Hospital Monklands / Acute Medical Receiving Unit University Hospital Monklands / Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18)

(as the patient),

Went to Monklands hospital with pain in my chest which I thought was indigestion, how wrong can you be! Within 11 hours was diagnosed as having a heart attack.

Scary, very scary, but nurses and doctor in receiving very friendly and reassuring, sort of put me at ease. Little did I know it would be the start of a 6 month journey which I'm still on.

Was transferred to ward 18 room 18. Nurses there were amazing friendly and efficient listened to my moans and groans, guess I was scared and emotional about this new and scary experience in my life. The following day I went to East Kilbride Hairmyers for angiogram, was then informed what had happened to me and that I need a triple heart bypass (graf) stayed in Monklands for 1 month then went to golden jubilee for operation was surprised to only stay there for 1 week then released home.

Been back to thank staff at ward 18, I cant say enough they went extra mile for me with extra cups of tea outside of breaks, even when this was at 3am. Ward manager allowed my grandchildren in to see me as I hadn't seen them for 2 months, I can tell you in brought a tear but it was a very nice touch thank you to all xx
