My daughter had a letter back from Mental Health Team today after seeking referral through GP, saying they had no funds to undertake an adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment at this time and couldn't say when they would be able to offer her one.
She has been misdiagnosed with everything from mild personality disorder, anxiety, panic attacks, depression etc for over 10 years.
Medication offered never works, her son (my grandson) was diagnosed with ADHD in January this year after waiting 4 years for a diagnosis and is currently on waiting list for an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment.
It was going through all this that she and I started looking at the possibility of her having ADHD. In an online tool to check symptoms, she identified with 25 of the 27 list - hence GP requesting referral. My grandson is now reacting positively to his ADHD medication, I just wish my daughter, single mum of 3, could be given this chance too.
I'm desperately worried about her mental well being and was shocked that with all the tv programmes, adverts, high profile celebrities saying that it is good to talk, that my daughter isn't being listened to!
Wondered whether she could approach Cambridgeshire services for one as we come under Lincolnshire?
She is currently on benefits as her youngest has waited a year to get a nursery place but was only offered 2 partial days a week which means seeking employment is a no go at present. Both she (and I) are not in a position to find a private assessment. Any help offered would be so gratefully received!
