In May this year my husband fractured his neck. We later found out he had Prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. After 3 weeks of trying to get on top of the pain in hospital, he came home.
I gave up my job as a support worker to care for him as he couldn't really do much for himself. He has been on strong medication for pain which makes him very drowsy. Our Palliative nurse from McMillan has been wonderful, like a bright star in the darkness that surrounded us. She was so very kind and she couldn't do enough for my husband and I. We valued her support so much.
It was difficult juggling my husband's medication. She liaised with the hospital staff to get my husband in for an MRI as he was having more pain. This was arranged quickly thanks to her. You need that kindness when you are going through something so upsetting. We were very grateful.
