I attended A&E late at night with my little girl due to her having a fall. I was greeted at the main A&E reception by a lovely lady called hayley/kayley, cant quite remember her correct name. (sorry). She was an absolute angel. She went through all the relevant questions whilst booking her in, took her time in making sure that she had all correct details and didn't rush me when i needed to get my mobile phone out to check the contact number. She didn't just speak to me, she also spoke away to my little girl and made her feel settled about being in A&E.
Once we were all booked in she gave my little girl some tissues for her nose as she had been crying. Once we had been seen to and were able to leave to go home she offered to call a relative/friend or that she could also call a taxi for us and when i asked about a number to call the taxi, she said she would call one for me to go home (This was amazing service as my hands were full with having to carry my little girl).
A little while later another nurse came and took a story from us, once again she was absolutely amazing ( so sorry i cant quite remember her name, Emma/Emily/Emilia) she was absolutely amazing, she also had so much care and compassion towards us. She explained to my daughter everything that she was doing to her with the machines and she also spoke away to my daughter too.
When we got through to the department and were seen by the doctor on duty who checked her over and cleaned her all up, he too was also amazing, i didn't feel as though he was rushing to get us out the department, i felt as though he was taking his time and following everything through and making sure that there were no other injuries.
The staff in the A&E department are absolutely amazing I never once felt as though we shouldn't have attended and felt that they werw very helpful and accommodating. I just want to say that ALL the staff in A&E are an absolute credit to NHS and even though they were all run off their feet, short staffed they always had a smile on their faces and always seemed so chirpy and never let it show to the patients that they were rushing about/ understaffed.
The nurse popped into the room a few times to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed anything and always came in with a smile and they were very polite.
When i was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my daughter to be seen and also afterwards when we were waiting on the taxi to come and collect us there was a few other patients/ Ambulance crews attend to both the desks and they were treated no different from how we were treated. They were also treated with so much care & compassion.
"Amazing care"
