"They are the best of the best"

About: Salford Royal / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

I attended my GP surgery, as I was experiencing progressing problems with walking and balance. It took a few consultations and an MRI scan to refine what was the problem. I was finally invited for a consultation with Dr Bailey who explained that I'm suffering from a "Triventricular hydrocephalus due to aqueduct stenosis" and he would like to undertake an endoscopic surgery.

I arrived at Salford Royal for a surgery scheduled at 10 am. Waited no more than 10 mins for full admission to start my surgery process. Within 45 mins I was already being popped off to sleep.

When I was woken, some 2 hours later, the entire process had been completed, and I was in the post-op room, monitored constantly by two nurses. After two(?) hours I was transferred to Ward H7, and being looked after by a team of nursing staff led by the staff nurse. This nurse and the entire team of doctors, nurses, students, cleaners, etc were respectful, hard working and offered me a reassuring smile and a chat every time when I needed it (and I did, especially when I had a high fever...)

The food and facilities were 1st class and are something our NHS can be very proud of. I spent four nights in the hospital and then was taken home with a taxi. I am now hoping to recover quickly.

If you have a need for neurosurgical treatment in Salford Royal, have no fear, they are the best of the best and will make sure that they do everything in their power to help you. I would like to thank everyone at Salford Royal for the treatment I received.
