Anything else?
I was admitted on Sunday evening, 7th April, with pain in my lower abdomen. I went through various tests and examinations and eventually had my appendix removed using keyhold surgery. The nurses were both knowledgeable and kind and I felt very cared for. I had never had an operation before as an adult and had dreaded ever having to be an in-patient. This was based on my experience as an out-patient as well as having to bring my mother for appointments. I was given a lot of clear information regarding my operation and felt no anxiety at all. It would have been helpful to have had some written post op information to take way with me such as how frequently to change my dressings and how long to keep the scars covered. I was given verbal information in the ward but, as I was in some pain it was difficult to take it all in. In the end I went to see a nurse at my surgery who answered my questions and checked that the incisions were healing well. I am no longer anxious about having other treatment at the LIster as an in-patient.
"Excellent care"
