I was admitted to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a gynaecology procedure. I was extremely nervous about this due to an incident that happened last year. However the team were amazing. Dr Smith, the anaesthetist took the time to speak through the procedure in detail and she was able to make sure it was an all female team in the theatre. She really did go above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable with the procedure and who was in the theatre, and popped up to the ward to check in the next day.
The theatre nurse Natalie and the other two nurses, I can’t remember their names, were amazing! They spoke to me during the spinal block to try distract me and tried to put me at ease. In recovery, Nurse Kirsten was fantastic, she sat with me and held my hand when I needed it, she made sure there was only two nurses looking after me as to not introduce too many faces. And lastly Nurse Megan in ward 56, she looked after me overnight and could not have done more to make me feel at ease and comfortable. From the moment of admission to discharge all staff were amazing and I can’t thank them enough for making a really daunting and uncomfortable experience that bit more easier!
