"Second failed telephone review"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

This is my second telephone review appointment which didn't happen. I have a cardiac history and am normally reviewed every 2 years, but haven't had any contact since 2019. I received a letter reminder for a telephone review which told me to allow 60 mins each side of appointment time, which didn't happen.

I didn't hear anything since to tell me why I wasn't called or reviewed. I then received a letter in August this year to be seen. I work on acute care in a hospital setting, so had to allow 60 mins either side of appointment time, only to have no contact made again.

I feel this an absolute disgrace. This could be handled better. The doctor may be busy, but it only takes a phone call from an administrator to re-book or apologise.

Good afternoon my name is Susan and I am part of the cardiology management team.

I am very sorry you have had this experience it is not one we would aim to provide for our patients.

I have spoken with the team lead for the administration of these clinics and she would be happy to investigate this for you.

Could I ask that you contact lynn.black@belfasttrust.hscni.net

Yours sincerely

Susan
