"A&E waiting"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Waiting in A&E at Wishaw General since mid morning with my elderly mother who developed symptoms of a stroke during the night.

Brought in by ambulance, triaged within 1 hr after waiting in the back of an ambulance. Still waiting to see a Doctor in the mid afternoon.

A shocking display of mismanagement and downright bad practice in my opinion.

5 ambulances sitting at the door to be seen, holding back vital public service to those who are in need.

If there is staff shortage, then that’s a management issue, no beds, government issue.

I feel the system is broken and needs immediate intervention from capable people. From this experience, it is my opinion that the extra money provided to the NHS in 2020/2021 has made little impact on the service provided.

Utterly disgraceful and shameful practice.
