I went in for an angiogram at ERI in April 2022 following chest pain. I had a stent inserted about 18 years ago for a similar issue and thought I would probably have a similar procedure. The angiogram showed a need for 5 stents and during the procedure I experienced a heart attack. 2 days later in the hospital I had a cardiac arrest but with the support of the staff in the hospital my recovery went well and I was discharged a week later.
My recovery has been good although I had side effects from the medication I was given causing dizziness and diarrhea. These issues have more or less been resolved although a tummy ache has resulted in me being referred to a Gastroenterologist in Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy where tests are ongoing.
I was seen by a cardio nurse in June and asked if I wished to join the cardio rehab classes which I have done and enjoyed. Apart from the tummy ache I feel fine. I go for a 30 minute walk most mornings and I also hope to join further cardio fitness classes in the near future.
