"Continence care"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Elderly Medicine (wards 3-7 & 36)

(as a relative),

My elderly mother was in MAU ward

Was given antibiotics which ran straight through her.

She sat in dirty pads for hours. As a result she was red raw on moving to the next ward and had to lie with the pad off and with lots of cream on. The nurses stated that they were disgusted she was in this mess.

Dear Karenfer

I am the Clinical Services Manager for the Older People and Stroke Services in the RAH. I am very sorry to read that the care experienced by your elderly mother fell well below the standard of care we strive to deliver to each patient. I would like to investigate this further to understand what went wrong and and what actions are required to prevent this happening to another patient.

Could you possibly email me at stephanie.leca@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or call me on 07816998700 to discuss further?

Kind regards

Stephanie

Update posted by Karenfer (a relative)

I think this urgently needs looked into. My mum had a dirty pad on for hours her bottom redraw and agony. Had to call district nurse in to dress it also her carers putting lots of cream on to try and heel the wounds. This is unacceptable to older people who have enough issues.
