Anything else?
My wife who is foreign born (I am English) is giving birth in September, whether we will get our residence visa yet is unclear. The NHS advises that hospitals can, if the patient is on a visitor visa, at their discretion croup costs, but not seek a profit. This is quite clearly stated in the relevant regulations/advisory papers. However, when I enquired about the possible costs I was quoted over 5000 pounds just for the birth and 9000 pounds if there were any complications. This is not only comparable to private costs but over twice the costs quoted by other hospitals in the region. Either Hillingdon is just remarkably inefficient or they are running a private service by stealth. Just shocking. Either way I think safe to say that patient care is not at the forefront of their priorities.
