"Supported on my bowel cancer journey"

About: University Hospital Ayr / General Surgery

(as a service user),

I have just completed my bowel cancer journey and have nothing but praise for most of the team.

My surgeon Mr Alishahi did his job well, the staff in the wards and HDU were attentive, but I can honestly say I would not have got through it without the support of Rosie the bowel cancer nurse specialist.

Without her honest opinions, direct answers, supportive manner, and regular phone calls just when I needed them, I would not be physically and psychologically in the stage of recovery that I am in now. A special thank you to Steph also who I spoke to on a few occasions.

I do not know how they do it but I would have been lost without their support. They are a credit to the NHS and don’t get enough acknowledgment for the role they provide.

Good Morning ophiuchusrc63

Thank you for you kind words of feed back about the staff at UHA following your journey through what must have been a very stressful time in your life. I am the Clinical Nurse Manager for Surgical Services here at UHA and so oversee the ward areas and some specialist nurses but not the 2 ladies you metion. I do however know both the ladies and I will make sure the whole team, but especially Rosie & Steph hear of your thanks and praise for them. I hope you continue to make progress and keep safe and well

Kind Regards

Hazel Hainey
