My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimers qnd vascular dementia 3 months after her 60th birthday. She also suffered from type 1 diabetes for 38 years. She passed away last November, not long after her 66th birthday. I was offered bereavement counselling in January but turned it down. By early March I was struggling, so I asked my G.P.for help I attended bereavement counselling and I am glad I did.I could speak to the counsellor in a way that I couldn't speak out to family and friend's I got things off my chest It was like a safety valve. The counsellor I had was a great listener, understanding, and very professional and put me at ease.Towards the end of my sessions I started to see life in a better wayI am still in a bad place, but not as bad as when I first started my sessions.Overall I am glad I attended, if you are in my position and don't think this service will help, please think again .It relly did help me
