"Coronary Artery Disease in the left anterior descending artery"

About: Dorset County Hospital / Cardiology Dorset County Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

I suffered with shortness of breath, chest pain and constant cough for over two years. Had a Bronchoscopy under the care of Dr Philips, which ruled out a lung problem apart from a small infection which was cleared with anti-biotics and a new (to me) inhaler, that certainly cleared the cough but not the other problems.

My first visit to the Cardiology Department was in February, where I had a one hour appointment where all details were taken and some tests done. I was given a prescription which is likely to be for life and a date for a CT Scan in April. This was followed by an echocardiogram in the May. I had a follow-up Blood/Swabs later that month.

In early June I was admitted for an angiogram under the care of Dr Witherow which was carried out in the smaller Cardiac Catheter Lab where it was discovered I had Coronary Artery Disease in the left anterior descending artery.
I returned at the beginning of July, and this time in the large catheter Lab, I had two Stents fitted. Dr Witherow was keeping my mind off of things by giving me a running commentary on the cost of three catheters, two  explosive balloons plus all the other equipment, nurses, doctors and the Lab time as well.
I would particularly like to thank him for doing a fantastic job and all of his lab team, Dave, Sarah, and a few more I'm afraid I can't name individually.

After about two hours I was wheeled back to the Day Ward, where the nurses Jane and Laura fussed over me and their other charges as though their lives depended on it. I was certainly treated to a five star stay. They were non-stop, bringing drinks, bringing food, removing pressure from the wrist band, taking blood pressure, taking ECGs, taking temperature and repeat until all pressure removed from wrist and all paperwork completed.

Dr Witherow can be rightly impressed with his Department and staff.
Thank you so so much.
