"GP appointment"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as a service user),

At one point my local medical centre was a fantastic surgery. I reckon it is now easier to get out of Alcatraz than to get an appointment with them.

I had surgery on Wednesday under a general anaesthetic,  and was discharged on same day as long as I could see/speak my GP on the next day at latest to discuss follow up.

This was arranged with the surgery. I was handed a discharge letter at 9:00 am to assist.

Yesterday (Thursday) I received a call from a receptionist at 6:00 pm telling me that I would receive a telephone appointment on Monday. I discussed this with what I found to be a very rude receptionist and was told the decision had been made.

We now have practice that knows more than the  surgeon and anesthetic specialists with discussion with patients.

Dear Edgarg

I am sorry to read about the delays you are experiencing with getting a follow up appointment with your GP. As GP’s are independent contractors with a separate feedback and complaints system I would suggest speaking to the Practice Manager to voice your concerns. (GP’s are not registered to respond directly to feedback through Care Opinion).

If you don't feel comfortable contacting the Practice Manager, you can contact the Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS). This is an independent service which provides free and confidential advice to patients about NHS healthcare. The service is provided by the Citizens Advice Bureau. The help line number is 0800 917 2127 and this is the website: www.patientadvicescotland.org.uk

Thank you

Nicole
