"Staff Rudeness."

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as a relative),

I phoned ward 14 RAH to be answered by what I found to be a rude member of staff.  They sighed and said they had nothing more to tell me about my Mum and if there were any changes in a patient they would call.

They were half way through the Meds and said they were short staffed and too busy to talk,  and hung up the phone on me. The call only lasted 26 seconds. My Mum Is 79 and I think she has undiagnosed dementia.  She was admitted with delirium and was diagnosed with COVID so wasn’t allowed visitors.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and raising awareness of the negative experience you encountered. This falls below the expected standard of care we strive to deliver and is not reflective of a person centred approach in communication. As an immediate action, we will share your feedback with the SCN and ward team for them to consider improvements in communication that can be taken forward to prevent a situation like this recurring.
