"Daughter being transferred between hospitals"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Paediatrics Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / Northern Ireland Specialist Transport and Retrieval (NISTAR) Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter took a major seizure and was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital, when in resus she had a further 6 seizures, the only option left was to put her under anaesthetic to let her body rest and stop her seizing. She then had to be transferred to PICU in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Belfast, where she then was put on a ventilator and a lot of other machines to keep her condition stable. After 2 days in RVH she was then able to be transferred back to Altnagelvin as she no longer required Intensive Care and so she could be closer to home. Natasha and Alison who transferred her were amazing and helped us feel so at ease in such a difficult time, we knew our daughter was in safe hands. We will be eternally grateful for all the staff as our daughter wouldn’t be here today without them.

Good afternoon

Really sorry to hear about your daughters seizures and I hope she is continuing to recover.

Many thanks for these kind words. I'll make sure both Alison and Natasha receive your feedback

Thanks again

Ciaran
