Anything else?
Although on two occasions I had presented this clinic with a list of my prescribed medication, it had not occurred to anyone that I am taking Clopidogrel (to prevent the blood from clotting). This was brought to the Nurse's attention and they said they would check to find out whether this medication should be stopped 7 or 10 days prior to my operation. The Staff Nurse then brought the Consent Form for signature, but again no reference was made to the Clopidogrel. The original Nurse did not come back to me with an answer.I again queried it with the Staff Nurse and was told "7 days".
It should not be the responsibility of the patient to have to query such practices. It was only due to a procedure at NCH last year that I was aware of this necessity!
It does not give me much confidence in having the forthcoming operation.
