"Urology appointment"

About: Victoria Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

I was a bit apprehensive about an unknown procedure I was to have. I need not have worried. Gemma the specialist nurse set me at ease and assured me that if there was any concerns or questions that I had about her explanations to the procedures I should not hesitate to ask. I felt reassured throughout the different steps of the investigation and explanation.

At the completion of the different tests, Gemma spent time with my daughter and myself patiently outlining the information she was forwarding to the consultant. I was also grateful that the department has recently purchased a ‘urodynamics chair’ which meant the number of transfers I had to make were kept to a bare minimum - which due to my physical disabilities made everything so much easier.

Grateful thanks to Gemma and the NHS staff at Kirkcaldy Vic.

Dear Urots43,

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. It is great to hear that Gemma has reassured you and kept you well informed during your appointment. The urodynamics chair was purchased to help patients, such as yourself, to have a more comfortable experience, and reduce the need to transfer between the equipment whilst undergoing the procedure. I am glad that it has helped contribute to your positive experience.

I am sure that Gemma will be delighted to receive this feedback, and I will share this with her directly, as well as with the rest the team. I wish you well and hope that your onward urology experience continues to be a positive one.

Kind regards,

Dale Simpson,

Senior Charge Nurse, Urology DTC.
