"I lost my mum and the grief I felt was overwhelming"

About: Six Degrees Social Enterprise (CIC) / Salford bereavement therapy service

(as a service user),

I lost my mum and the grief I felt was overwhelming to me. I had anxiety attacks -broken sleep and what I can only describe as deep grief at her loss.

I felt like something had broken in me physically and mentally. I was referred to bereavement therapy and as I have never had therapy before I was unsure what would happen.  The therapist I was referred to was wonderful and listened and talked in all the right places. Our sessions are now over as of today but she has referred me to other services for which I am very grateful.

The day my mum passed was life changing for me as it opened up and closed doors for me that I am still trying to come to terms with.

The 6 sessions offered are I know are the bench mark to help people but I feel if the therapist was given a little leeway with that, that may help as no one persons grief is the same.

That being said I am grateful to the service and the therapist I was given in particular.

My grief is still there with me everyday and it is still deep feeling . I am hoping that the referrals I have will be a continuance of the start I had with the bereavement service.
